
PARIS — On Wednesday, May 21, eight Certified Nursing Assistants were recognized and pinned in front of over 60 family members and friends at the Oxford Hills / Nezinscot Adult Education CNA pinning ceremony. This was the first class to take the completely revised state of Maine CNA examination. Everyone passed the 50-question test.
The students proceeded in to Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.” CNAs Sarah Chase, Desiree Dearborn, Autumn Gilliam, and Cheryl Locke all spoke during the ceremony. High Honors were announced, and RN Marcia Campbell, Adult Education CNA Instructor of 32 years, awarded Desiree Dearborn the Caregiver Award. Desiree was accepted into the Nursing program at Central Maine Community College for Fall 2025. Cheryl Locke was awarded the “Outstanding Role Model and Team Player” award. Cheryl said that Marcia had encouraged her for years to sign up for the training. Cheryl is now working at Market Square Health Care Center.
This program was supported by the Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan (MJRP) through Central Maine Community College Workforce and Professional Development Office, Eastern Maine Development Corporation, and others. MJRP fully funded tuition for seven students. Clinical rotations were done at Market Square Health Care Center. The pinning ceremony was signed in American Sign Language by Juli Spaulding.
