Frederick Walter Horsfall III
BUCKFIELD – Frederick Walter Horsfall III, 74, of Buckfield, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 2, 2025. He was born in Glendale, Calif. on May 25, 1951 to parents Frederick W. Horsfall Jr. and Elisa A. Buitenwerf.
Fred graduated from local schools in Middletown, NJ. He went on to become a carpenter, a trade he performed most of his life. On May 14, 1985, he married the love of his life, Penny Terhune, in Old Orchard Beach. Together, they raised two children, Chris and Melissa.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Penny Horsfall of Buckfield; son, Chris Demelia and wife Cary of Mechanic Falls, daughter, Melissa Ayres and companion Cayman Thibodeau of Mechanic Falls; a sister, Rachelle Goto of East Haven, Conn.; grandchildren, Austin Ayres, Abby Ayres, Mackenzie Cole, Parker Demelia, and Autumn Demelia; and several nieces and nephews. He was loved and cherished by many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Elise Horsfall; and a granddaughter, Alexis Ayres.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 2 – 4 p.m. at Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main St,. Oxford. Family and friends are invited to a reception after visiting hours at the Buck-It, 371 Turner St., Buckfield from 5 – 7:30 p.m.
