Danielle Marie Gallagher
LITCHFIELD – Danielle Marie Gallagher, 41, tragically passed away on June 12, 2025. She was born on April 14, 1984, with a full head of blonde hair and the brightest blue eyes.
Danielle was a beautiful soul who brought warmth and light into every life she touched. Fiercely loyal and deeply loving, she had a heart that was both tender and strong. She faced many challenges in her life, including a long and courageous battle with addiction. While it ultimately took her from us it will never define the fullness of who she was.
She was a mother, a granddaughter, a daughter, a sister, a best friend, someone who loved with her whole heart and was deeply loved in return. Dani had a remarkable gift: she could make anyone laugh. Her own laughter could fill a room, and her spirit refused to be dimmed, even in her darkest moments. Danielle wanted to be seen for the good she carried, and she will always be remembered for her resilience, compassion, strength, and humanity.
She is survived by her grandmother, “Nana” Marcella Dowling of Hallowell; her father, Peter Gallagher of Litchfield—they were truly two peas in a pod; and her mother, Paula Foss of Auburn. She also leaves behind her two beloved sisters, Alicia Gallagher, her partner Matt, and their daughter Mallory of Richmond; and Jodi Gallagher and her longtime partner Shane of Windsor. Her brother, Nicholas Grover of Litchfield, also survives her.
Dani was a proud and loving auntie to so many children! Especially leaving behind four nephews who will forever feel her absence: Jacob and Sam Gay of Richmond, and Quentin and Abel Tuggle of Windsor—each of whom she loved with all her heart. But above all, Danielle’s greatest joy and most cherished role was being a mother to her five-year-old daughter, Kennedy Jane Berry of Farmingdale. Kennedy was Dani’s world, and when they were together, nothing else mattered. Her family and friends take solace in knowing that Kennedy will grow up carrying her mother’s beauty, spirit, and courage.
She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. A very special thanks to those who never turned their backs on Dani and who continued to love and guide her no matter what she was going through:
Kate McGibney of Farmingdale—Dani would want you to keep being loud, sober, and to continue to love and cherish your two boys!
Missy Black and Missy Craig – both of Augusta—Your years of love and support meant the world to her.
Ruby Merrill of Rockland—Dani’s favorite cousin. The love and loyalty you showed her throughout her life will never be forgotten and truly unreplaceable.
Danielle was preceded in death by her beloved maternal grandparents, “Papa” and “Grammie” Leroy and Mary Hilliard of Wales, and her paternal grandfather, Larry “Poppy” Gallagher of Litchfield.
Her family and friends finds peace in knowing she is now free—free from pain, shame, and guilt—and reunited with those she loved, surrounded by nothing but love and light.
To anyone struggling with addiction or mental health: please know that recovery is possible. Your life matters. You are worth the fight—no matter how long it takes!
