Jacqueline Janet Pelletier
SCARBOROUGH – Jacqueline Janet Pelletier, 91, of Scarborough, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Lewiston, Jacqueline was a radiant presence whose life was devoted to family, faith, and service. She worked for many years as a legal secretary and was a dedicated Catholic educator, teaching CCD programs in both Maryland and Wiesbaden, Germany. Her leadership extended to the community, where she served as President of the Patronesses of St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston and volunteered for the American Cancer Society.
An avid traveler, Jacqueline planned elaborate family trips across Europe, creating cherished memories and unforgettable experiences. She enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge club in Waldorf, Maryland, and in her later years, she discovered a love for golf. As with so many things, she embraced the game with enthusiasm and quickly became a strong player.
Jacqueline is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 68 years, Leo Pelletier; her daughter, Kay Whitmore and husband Bill Whitmore, her son, Marc Pelletier and wife Cheryl Pelletier; and her beloved grandchildren, Abigail Whitmore Scott and husband Dustin Scott, and Alex Whitmore; and her sister, Yvette Rousseau.
She will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her beautiful and thoughtful handwritten notes, and her amazing meat pies.
Visiting hours will be held at Hobbs Funeral Home in Scarborough on Monday, July 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Scarborough on Tuesday, July 8, at 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jacqueline’s memory to the Dempsey Center, which provides free cancer support services to individuals and families across Maine. Visit http://www.dempseycenter.org for more information.
