Tom Daniel Collins

GODFREY, Ill. – Tom Daniel Collins was born July 3, 1960 and passed away on July 7, 2025.

Tom was born and raised in Lewiston, the son of Arthur Collins and Yolande (Lamontagne). Tom graduated from Lewiston High School and shortly after, enlisted in the U.S. Army 1977-1984. Tom was a paratrooper, graduated from Army Ranger School and was preparing for Special Forces 5th division. While his family was living in Alaska, Tom was honorably discharged. In 1988 Tom and his family relocated to his home state of Maine, shortly after settling in, he decided to pursue a life long dream of becoming a Mechanical Engineer. Tom graduated from the University of Maine, Orono in 1996, with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Tom was predeceased by both of his parents; and the very recent death of his younger brother, Steve Collins.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy Collins of Godfrey, Ill.; his two children, Nicholas Collins of Brunswick, and Natasha Edman of Belgrade; grandchildren, Mckayla Collins, Quin Collins and Wesley Edman; his sister, Dawna Poulin and husband Don of Greene; Cathy’s children, Gabriel Delehanty and (Abby) and Amber (Joe) Almeter; mom-in-law, Carol Markey; grandchildren, Peyton, Claire, Noah, Harper, Lucy, Reid.

Tom was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kailey.

Tom traveled for work as a mechanical engineer throughout North and South America. He was currently working in Kansas City, Mo. for Black & Veatch. Tom was an avid reader. He had immense knowledge of world history, his ability to understand and explain how the past will affect the future.

Tom had many professional accomplishments but his real passion was being able to take care of his family. His humor and presence will forever be missed by all of his family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at St Peter’s Cemetery chapel 10 a.m., July 18.
