The Lewiston Maineiacs hired Caleb Labrie as their head coach in advance of their first season in the United States Premier Hockey League’s Tier II National Collegiate Development Conference.
Labrie was an assistant coach last season for the Maine Nordiques of the North American League, a Tier II junior hockey league. A former St. Dominic Academy player, he served as an assistant for the Twin City Thunder of the U.S. Premier Hockey League from 2020-24.
Labrie’s assistants include Ed Harding, who served as head coach and general manager of the original Lewiston Maineiacs franchise that played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Former St. Dom’s goalie Austin Christopher (goalie coach) and Veronica Crafts (skating development coach) were also announced to the coaching staff.
The team announced two camps, which will run from Aug. 6-10 at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn. First will be a goalie camp from Aug. 6- 7, followed by a main camp from Aug. 8-10. The Maineiacs will play their home games at the Colisée in Lewiston.
Mill Sports and Entertainment takes over the Youth Academy Teams
Mill Sports and Entertainment, the new management company of The Colisee, will run the Youth AAA-level Academy teams owned by Colisee owner Darryl Antonacci.
Previously, Shift Sports and Entertainment, the owners of the Maine Nordiques, which aren’t returning to The Colisee, ran the 15-only, 16U and 18U Academy teams. Bostic said most of the Academy staff will remain in place.
