BETHEL — Police surrounded a home off Kimball Hill on Thursday night, arresting a man they say works as an enforcer for a violent Massachusetts street gang.
Investigators from the U.S. Marshal’s Office described 24-year-old Yonaidry Lascano Rosario as a known member of the Trinitarios gang who was wanted by police on assault and weapons charges.
Local, state and federal agents had been searching for Rosario for months, according to Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Ryan Guay. He had been wanted on two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, accessory after the fact and carrying a firearm without a license.
Investigators say the Trinitarios gang dominate communities by intimidating rival gangs while trying to establish control over particular neighborhoods.
“As seen in previous charging documents throughout the country, Trinitarios tend to utilize violence, including murder, in furtherance of the organization’s goals and purposes,” according to a U.S. Marshals Service news release.
A series of leads ultimately led investigators to the Kimball Road home in Bethel, police said. Police from a variety of agencies surrounded the home and Rosario was arrested without incident, according to the release. A subsequent search of the home uncovered firearms and “a quantity of drugs.”
Rosario was charged with being a fugitive from justice and is expected to be extradited to face the charges in Massachusetts.
