Matthew John Boyd
SABATTUS – Matthew John Boyd, 46, of Sabattus, passed away suddenly—what his family believes was the result of a broken heart after the loss of his son and “buddy,” Tristan. His absence leaves a deep hole in the hearts of many.
Raised in Poland, Matthew attended Poland Community School and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1998. He loved taking things apart and figuring out how to fix them—often with tools borrowed from his dad.
Matthew had a gift for connecting with people. He could talk to anyone and was always willing to lend a hand. Life wasn’t easy, but he faced every challenge with quiet strength and kindness.
His children, Tristan and Elise, were his greatest joy. He loved rides to nowhere, lake days, and just being with them. After losing Tristan last year, the grief stayed with him and weighed heavily on his soul.
Matthew found purpose in his work at Dunkin’ Donuts, where he loved seeing familiar faces and serving his community with warmth and a smile.
He was incredibly close to his siblings and shared a special bond with his brother Troy, who was also his roommate and best friend. He had a deep connection with his cousin Heidi, having both experienced the devastating loss of a child. His father was his hero, and he leaned on his mother, Debra, throughout his life for her guidance and advice.
Matthew was predeceased by his grandparents, his father Lloyd Boyd Jr., and his son Tristan.
Left to carry on his legacy are his daughter Elise; his mother Debra; brothers Troy (Jen) and Toby (Carrie), sister Megan (Derrick); nieces Tiffany and Amelia, nephews Levi, Liam, and Harrison; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Please honor Matthew by being kind—as he always was. Share a smile and love without hesitation or conditions. That was his way, and it’s how he’d want to be remembered.
