BRUNSWICK – Eve S. (Day) Reid, 85, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Horizons Living Center, with her loving children by her side. She was born Aug. 28, 1939, in West Paris, Maine a daughter of the late Gerald and Martha (Smith) Day.
After completing high school, she went on to earn a diploma in nursing from North Shore Babies’ and Children’s Hospital in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1959. She was predeceased by her first husband Donald A. Waterhouse. She remarried Lawrence Reid in July 1964, and they traveled extensively during Larry’s Air Force duties until they settled in South Paris, Maine in 1977 upon Larry’s retirement from the Air Force.
Eve was very active in the South Paris Baptist Church. She loved to bake, collected Depression glass and teddy bears, loved a good yard sale, made friends easily and often, and would make meals for neighbors, but was always the happiest when with family and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Gerald and Martha Day, and her husband Lawrence Reid.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children Holly Reid and her husband James Brown, Beth Serridge and her husband Tom Serridge, and her loving granddaughter Abigail Serridge, and Andrew Reid and his wife Kristina Swanson. She also leaves her loving sister Jane Wheeler and numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Eve’s wishes, a graveside service will take place on Saturday August 9, 2025, at 10 a.m., at the Riverside Cemetery Annex, South Paris (Paris Hill).
The family expresses much gratitude for the staff of Horizons Nursing Home and Rehabilitation and Chans Hospice in Brunswick for their kind and compassionate care.
