Janice Arlene (Wiley) Record
OXFORD – Janice Arlene (Wiley) Record, 81, of Oxford, died peacefully in her home early Monday morning, Aug. 4, 2025.
Janice was born Oct. 22, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island, to George and Ethel Wiley. When she was a child, her family moved to Maine and settled in Waterford. In 1958, she held the title of Waterford Grammar School Ping Pong Champion. Janice was a hard-working, compassionate, and loving mother to her six children. She had the biggest heart and opened her home to many others throughout her life. For 32 years, she owned and operated a boarding home for dozens of elderly people. Janice was known as a second mother to so many, and everyone could feel her love for them. If you were in her presence, she made you feel like you were the most important person to her. She had an immense interest in geneology and family history and has done countless hours of research to find out more about her extended family. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 60 years, where she had the opportunity to offer her love and service to many people.
Janice is survived by her six children: Richard “Dicky” Record and wife, Denise, of Oxford, Donald “Donny” Record and partner, Christine, of Oxford, Diana “DeeDee” Allen and husband, Peter, of Oxford, Elton Record II “Buster” and wife, Mandy, of Sandy, Utah, Erland Record and wife, Kelly, of Oxford, and Darcy Rodriguez and husband, Gus, of Lehi, Utah. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, a brother, George Wiley, Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Londonderry, N.H., and her former husband, Elton Record of Oxford.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Ethel Wiley, her older sister, Joyce Fleck, and her younger brother, Richard Wiley.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at 3 p.m., at the Riverside Annex Cemetery in South Paris. Reception immediately following at The Silver Spur in Mechanic Falls until 6 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, South Paris.
