Marguerite (Lacasse) Morin

LEWISTON – Marguerite (Lacasse) Morin, of Lewiston, 94, peacefully passed away on Aug. 20, 2025 at Hospice House in Auburn. She was born on Sept. 1, 1930, daughter of Lucien Dionne and Eva (Ouellette) Dionne and lived a full life rooted in hard work and devotion to family and friends.

For nearly 40 years, Marguerite shared her talents and warmth as the owner of her hair salon, Chez Marguerite. Her chair was more than a place for hairdressing, it was where friendships were nurtured, laughter was shared and countless therapy sessions conducted.

In the backyard of home on Webber Avenue for nearly 40 years, Marguerite and Emile hosted countless pool parties in a place she called Camelot, after the 1960 Broadway show. In Camelot, she would explain, the weather is always perfect and the summer lingers through September. Lobster clambakes were the specialty of the house and friends and family were always welcome.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 47 years, Emile H. Lacasse; her daughter, Anne; her second husband, Marcel Morin; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, all of whom she considered dear friends.

Her biggest loss in life was the death of her only daughter, Anne, at the of age 14 in 1972 of a rare form of cancer. While Marguerite’s death certificate states she died of natural causes, it could also state that she died with a broken heart because she never stopped feeling the hurt of losing Anne.

She is survived by her sons Richard Lacasse of Provincetown, Mass., Marc LaCasse of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Connie Begin and Madeline Cote; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews and friends. She still lives on earth in the acts of goodness she performed and in the hearts of those who will always cherish her memory. May the beauty of her life abide among us as a loving benediction.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sept. 27, in Lewiston.

Donations may be made to the Hospice House in Auburn whose compassionate care brought comfort in her final days.
