Jonathan Dennis Spofford
MINOT – This world lost one of its good guys this week, when Jonathan Dennis Spofford was killed in a car accident on his 48th birthday.
He was born Aug. 26, 1977 to Dennis and Beverly Spofford. He grew up in Splinterville in West Auburn. He started working for his father’s excavation company as a kid and loved the work; he had an incredible work ethic that lasted all his life.
He attended Auburn schools, and upon graduation enlisted in the Marine Corps for four years. Returning home, he got married and his two daughters, Isabelle and Kaeli, were born. He divorced when they were young and has been with his wife, Nicole, and stepdaughter, Arianna, for the past 16 years.
He absolutely loved spending time with his family, and his dogs Roxy, Roofus, and Midgette, whether camping or just doing things around the house. “Jon” was an awesome artist, his pumpkins for the girls were legendary! He tried to make sure all his girls knew how to take care of themselves, from self-defense to fixing their own cars.
He worked for a few construction companies through the years, CLH, Sargent, and L.P. Poirior. Then, he drove a delivery truck for Home Depot with Cardinal Trucking. For the past couple of years, he had been with Gendron and Gendron as an equipment operator.
Jon is survived by his wife, Nicole; daughters Isabelle and Kaeli Spofford, and stepdaughter, Arianna Durepos; his mother, Beverly Spofford; brothers Matt and Tom Spofford, and sisters Debbie (Perry) Morin and Lishia (Jerry) Cochran; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Dennis Spofford; and his niece, Karen Wrentzel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, Aug. 31, from 12 to 3 p.m., at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 217 Turner St., Auburn. Military honors will be presented at 3 p.m.
