Kelly Butler is announcing her candidacy for the Auburn City Council seat for Ward 4.
Butler is a member of the Auburn Comprehensive Planning Committee. “As an active member of the planning committee, I have learned about Auburn’s strengths and what the people of Auburn would like to see improved,” she said. “They want to live in a community that is safe, affordable, sustainable, and supports connection and healthy living.”
Butler said she serves as a behavioral health regional director “supporting a variety of programs that promote the emotional and physical health of individuals and families.”
She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maine and her graduate degree
from Lewis and Clark College.
“In the private sector I had the opportunity to develop systems, budgetary and quality management skills, while working in the small business community and corporate engineering, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries, while in the nonprofit sector I have directed a pilot program for women and children affected by family violence and substance use,” she said.
“I believe it is important to be accessible, engaged in hearing what’s important to Ward 4 residents, and responsive. I believe Auburn needs to encourage the innovative development of a variety of affordable housing options, while being fiscally responsible, ensure the responsible use and sustainability of Auburn’s natural resources, while also supporting educational, vocational, recreational and cultural opportunities for citizens of all ages.”
“Working together as a community,” Butler said, “… allows us to build a sustainable, more connected and prosperous Auburn.”
