There is a $5 suggested donation and no sign-up is needed. Just walk in and dance it out! — No name, no town
ANSWER: I never thought I’d care for line dancing but now I really do enjoy it and the people I dance with are so nice and fun-loving. Give it a try!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Connors Elementary School at 400 Bartlett St. in Lewiston invites everyone to our third annual Craft Fair on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We’ll have over 50 vendors, face painting, a raffle, and a food truck. All proceeds go toward school supplies, field day supplies, extracurricular activities and field trips. — Calla, no town
ANSWER: Add this to the list of all the craft fairs you’ll be attending this fall. There are so many opportunities to get some holiday shopping done and support crafters, schools, churches, and other nonprofits. What could be better?
DEAR SUN SPOTS: My family and I have been concerned about the area’s drought conditions and my children, ages 9 and 11, have made a list of ways we can conserve water. I’m sure people are already doing these things but it’s good to be reminded. We used to live in Australia so we’re used to making do with very little water. I hope this helps others.
Never throw leftover water down the drain. Use it to water indoor and outdoor plants. This includes water left in the tea kettle, the pots you cooked pasta or vegetables in, and the water left in drinking glasses.
Don’t let the water run when brushing your teeth or washing your face. In the shower, get yourself wet, turn off the water to soap up, then turn the water on to quickly rinse. It may not feel as luxurious but you’ll become accustomed to it. Consider having an every-other-day showering schedule or go even longer if you can.
Don’t do laundry or run the dishwasher unless you have a really full load. Don’t water the lawn. It will be fine. You seriously don’t have to wash your vehicle every week or power wash your deck right now.
You really don’t have to flush the toilet every time you urinate. It may seem gross but close the lid and walk away. It’s OK. — Cyn and Kai, no town
ANSWER: I commend these two youngsters for their willingness to share their tips. There are areas in our state where wells are going dry and it’s going to take more than a few inches of rain to get things back on track. I’d like to think that most Sun Spots readers are doing all they can to conserve water during this time. If you have tips to share, you know what to do!
