Edward B. Lachapelle
GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. – Edward B. Lachapelle, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday Sept. 27, 2025.
Edward was born in Augusta on Nov. 19, 1963, to Joseph E. Lachapelle Sr. and Rachel (Cripps) Lachapelle. Edward graduated from Leavitt Area High School in 1982 and attended the University of Maine Orono for six years earning his master’s degree in Nuclear Physics.
During his career he was able to travel all over the United States working at various facilities. He was able to retire early, spending his summers on the shores of Lake Erie on his sailboat and his winters in Maine skiing and spending time with his family.
Edward was an avid “Star Wars” fan and enjoyed all science fiction. He was always ready for the next light speed adventure.
Edward is survived by sister, Nancy Donnell, sister, Elaine Pulsifer- Leblond, sister-in-law, Cheryl Lachapelle, brother, David Lachapelle and wife Brenda, brother, Jim Lachapelle and wife Carol; and many of his beloved nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Lachapelle, his mother, Rachel Lachapelle; sister, Linda Lachapelle, brother, Joseph Lachapelle, Jr., brother, Donald Lachapelle, brother-in-law, Donald Pulsifer Sr., and brother-in-law, Lorenzo Leblond.
At Edward’s request, there will be no funeral service. There will be a graveside service at a later date. Interment Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane, in Winthrop.
