Alan Richard Toutant
GILEAD – Alan Richard Toutant, 58, of Gilead passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at the Andwell Hospice House in Auburn, Maine, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Al was born in Putnam, Conn. on Nov. 20, 1966.
He has worked as a machinist and a mechanic, and owned his own automatic transmission repair shop. Al had a passion for riding motorcycles, skiing, hiking, and playing with his cats. Al was an avid skier and a longtime passholder at Wildcat Mtn. in Gorham, NH and Sunday River in Newry, Maine. Al was a Wildcat Mtn. legend and made 60 runs in 1 day, 4 times, during a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire.
Al was adamant about tracking his skiing statistics, over the past several years he averaged 156 ski days per year with an all time high of 172 ski days in one season. Conservatively that averages 3300 miles and 4.5 million feet of vertical drop per year.
Throughout Al’s life, he rode over 2000 different motorcycles and owned over 50. Al was actively involved in the Gilead Historical Society.
Al is survived by his partner Grace Marquez; his parents, Roland and Helene Toutant of Woodstock, Conn.; his sister, Lorraine Smith and husband Ricky of N. Grosvenor Dale, Conn.; his brother, Thomas Toutant and wife Laura of Otisfield, Maine; nephews, John Toutant of Newfane, Vt., Tom Toutant II and his son Bentley Toutant of Stoneham, Maine.
He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Toutant.
Relatives and friends are respectably invited to attend a celebration of life for Al from 10 – 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at the Otisfield Community Hall, 292 State Rte. 121 in Otisfield.
