Walter L. “Leo” Geddry Jr.
NORWAY – Walter L. Geddry, Jr., better known as “Leo” to his friends, was born on Oct. 27, 1946, in Cambridge, Mass. He passed away on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, after many years of courageously battling the effects of Agent Orange.
Leo left this world with his wife, Sandy, and his sons, Eric and Andy, by his side. He was deeply grateful to have spoken with his daughter-in-law, Lauren, and his beloved granddaughters, Ella and Avery, before his passing. Leo was most proud of his family, who brought him great joy throughout his life.
He was honored to serve his country as a U.S. Marine, stationed in Vietnam in 1968 as an aviation ordnance man. Leo never missed a chance to share stories with his fellow Marines- often holding up the checkout line at Hannaford with a good “Semper Fi” conversation.
Leo loved chatting with neighbors at Sand Pond, working on jigsaw puzzles, and getting lost in a good mystery novel. A talented craftsman, he also enjoyed working with stained glass and created several beautiful pieces that hang in his Norway home.
A communicant of St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Norway, Leo’s burial Mass will be held there on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Stanley Rd., Springvale.
Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris. Online condolences may be shared with his family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com .
