DEAR SUN SPOTS: Could you please print an updated list of people who do clothing alterations in this area? Most of the internet listings I’ve seen are obsolete because people are no longer doing it or have moved, etc. — No name, no town

ANSWER: In the Rolodex, I have Sue Roebuck, “Mom the Mender” on Upper Street, Turner (754-6558); The Mill End Store at 971 Main St., Oxford (539-4451); Make It Sew, LLC in Bowdoinham ([email protected]); LA Clean & Spin/John’s Clean & Spin, 782-3466 in Auburn or at 784-9096 in Lewiston; If You Say Sew in Durham, 653-5507; and Veronica’s Creations in Greene, 514-6820.

I can personally recommend Karen at Make It Sew, and I recently received a letter about Veronica’s Creations where the writer stated that she was very pleased with that recommendation.

I know there must be other folks out there who are talented with sewing, mending, alterations, and creating. Let me know if you are one of them or if you have someone to recommend. It’s time to plump up the Rolodex. I’m counting on your to help!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was having lunch with my teenage granddaughter at a local pizza place recently and a veteran named Pete paid our bill. He said he had been treated to a free lunch by another customer there that week and had promised to “return the favor.”

We both thought it was a very sweet gesture and thanked him profusely. As I drove my granddaughter home, we talked about this kind gentleman and she cried a little. Sir, the impact you made on this teen was profound.

This week we went out for breakfast and she was very excited to pay for a young mom and her little boy. She slipped the money to the cashier as we left. It felt great to experience her joy and I swear she even stood a little taller as we walked out. — Carolann, no town

ANSWER: What a sweet letter! It’s been a bit since we’ve heard about our restaurant angels. Does anyone else have a story to share? They always cheer me up and remind me that there are kind people in the world doing their little bit to help one another.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A while ago, a reader asked how to watch “The Jennifer Hudson Show.” It is now on Maine’s CW at 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. In some areas it’s on Channel 12. — Arthur, Farmington

ANSWER: Thanks for sharing this, Arthur. Knowing where to find our favorite shows is important!
