Allison J. Butler
LEWISTON – Allison J. Butler, 61, of Auburn, passed away Monday Oct. 6, 2025, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 15, 1964 in Waterville, the daughter of Percy L. Butler Jr. and Priscilla (Powell) Butler.
Allison “Allie” considered John F. Murphy Homes – Summer Street her home since June 2018. Prior to living at Summer Street, Allie enjoyed living at Hotel Road, OLR, and at home with her parents and siblings until she was 27 years old.
Allie had a lot of fun with her siblings, as well as her nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her infectious sense of humor that put smiles on the faces of all. Allie was part of the Strawberry Avenue, formerly known as SLC, community where she engaged with many friends. Allie was fortunate to have the opportunity to live with her best friend Shelli S.
In her early years despite her disabilities Allie was involved in all family activities. She loved to travel from Maine to the Southern states with her younger siblings in her Mom and Dad’s motor home.
Her morning coffee and daily Pepsi Cola in a bottle was a must. She had a unbelievable memory when it came to TV shows. She was the TV guide. She was not a fan of strong language and was very vocal to call it out. And a musician she was, from playing the banjo, guitar, and any and all keyboards. Allie tended to be the life of the party at JFMH primarily because she loved music and loved to sing. If there was music playing, Allie was singing. She knew music lyrics across all music genres and generations including holiday music. Her amazing musical memory was a gift and a joy. Allie achieved her hope and dream as a guest DJ for the radio station WCYY. She met her all-time favorite performer – Jim Brickman. Allie was the lead singer of the Pledge of Allegiance at the Residential Counsel Meetings, sang at many concerts, and regularly joined in karaoke.
Allie appreciated quick-witted humor of which she regularly dished out. She was a keen observer of life, people, and interactions. She voiced her preferences and opinions including advocating for herself and others. Allie enjoyed zoom bingo and the casino. We are sure she is gambling, singing, and dancing with enthusiasm, love, and joy. May she Rest In Peace.
Rhonda Butler-Morin was Allie’s Legal Guardian in the later years. Taking on the Mom role, being a selfless sister. and friend and most importantly a support person to Allie. She was a positive and influential being in Allie’s life. She loved Rhonda immensely.
She is survived by her siblings, Donna Herrick and husband Edward of Sumner, Wayne Butler of Sabattus, Timothy Butler and wife Susan of Honolulu, Hawaii, James Butler of Jay, Rhonda Morin and husband Raymond of New Gloucester, Kevin Butler and wife Tina of Menifee, Calif., Percy L. Butler III of Portland; and her special friend of many years, Shelly Sanborne, who was more like a sister.
She was predeceased by her parents.
The family would like to express immense appreciation to the entire staff of the several John Murphy Homes she resided in for the Love and exceptional care provided where she was not a client, she was family. Always going above and beyond. Thank you!
