Carol B. Nickerson

SPRINGVALE – Carol B. Nickerson, 84, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at the Lodges Assisted Living Center in Springvale, with her daughter by her side.

Carol was born in Boston, Mass. on March 18, 1941, the daughter of Roy and Bernice (Ladd) Bixby. She was a graduate of Mexico High School and Seacoast School for Computers. She worked for Mexico and Old Orchard Beach School as a Teacher’s Aid for several years, SHAPE Corp as a Winder and for Network Trade Corporation in Portland. She was a member of the Waterboro Eagles Club.

Carol was married in Waterboro on April 16, 1994, to Maynard Nickerson, Jr. who died in Scarborough, on Sept. 29, 2013.

She is also preceded by her granddaughter Lacy Richard who she absolutely adored; step daughter Janet Shanchez; and brother-in-law Dennis Provencher.

She is survived by her daughter Shelly Richard and husband Glen of Waterboro, sons, Elliot Knox and wife Veronica of Mexico and Michael and companion Bertha Rose of Turner; a sister, Cherilyn Provencher of Old Orchard Beach; grandchildren, Steven Knox, Travis Knox, Angelo Knox, Briana Knox, and Zachary Richard; and six great grandchildren.

Carol loved to watch the Bruins games with Elliot via text or calls, making and decorate Christmas cookies with the grandchildren and spending time or talking with her sister Cheri daily. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, baking, volunteering and spending time with friends, family and especially watching her grandchildren’s sports.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, Nov. 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Canton.
