Adrianne Couture Dunn

ANDOVER – Adrianne Couture Dunn passed away peacefully the evening of Oct. 25, 2025, at her son’s home, surrounded by her children, husband and extended family.

Adrianne was born on Feb. 28, 1950, to Ruth “Vickie” Couture and Clement “Cutt” Couture in Rumford, Maine. She spent her childhood growing up in Hanover, Maine near Howard Pond and also spent a lot of time on Concord Pond at her childhood camp.

Adrianne graduated from Stephen’s High School, class of 1968 and went on to attend College at University of Maine Machias and Farmington, for early childhood education, graduating with high honors.

Adrianne “Mrs. Gallant” began her teaching career in Bethel and worked throughout SAD#44, teaching first grade and remedial reading, spending most of her career at Andover and Woodstock Elementary schools. After “retiring” she, now “Mrs. Dunn”, went back to teaching a few times in Saco and at the Beech Hill School in eastern Maine.

In 1975, she married David Gallant and had two children, Sadie and David. During those years, they cleared land and built a house on Farmer’s Hill Rd in East Andover. The family’s love of camping compelled them to eventually buy a camp in Oquossoc where many, many summers were spent. She and David divorced in 2006 but remained friendly.

In 2008, she reconnected with a childhood friend, Darrell Dunn, and their love was undeniable, they were married on June 8 of that same year.

Adrianne and Darrell eventually moved to Mariaville, Maine for several years, bought a camp on Concord Pond and then eventually moved back to Andover, buying a house in town. She loved being able to reconnect with former students and coworkers.

Adrianne was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 and was able to be in remission for almost 10 years when the cancer returned in 2016. She fought very, very hard against this disease and was an inspiration to many.

Adrianne was a devout congregant of Calvary Bible Church in Andover.

She is survived by her husband Darrell of Andover; her children Sadie (Garrett) Stewart of Portland and David (Jessy) Gallant , Jr. of East Andover; her bonus daughters, Lauren Dunn of Colorado and Caitlin Dunn of New Zealand; her grandchildren Julia, Vincent, Ava, Elijah, Garrett Jr, Venna, Taylor and Evan; her brother Spencer (Linda) Couture and sister Claudia (Angelo) Nardone.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Celina Jodrey and a grandson, Marcus.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you for the wonderful compassion and care provided by Rumford Hospital, CMMC, Central Maine Oncology and the angels at Andwell Home Hospice.

Friends and family are invited to share memories of Adrianne at http://www.meaderandson.com.

Services will be held at the Calvary Bible Church, 1063 South Main Street, Andover, on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
