
Aroma Joe’s, first proposed nearly a year ago, is now under construction at 44 Mayville Road and currently covered with a tarp. The project initially faced criticism and was rejected by the Bethel Planning Board, but after further review at a subsequent meeting, it received approval.
“We are progressing on schedule and are excited to be open in January of 2026,” Danny Whitney said. He added that they will be completing the roof and interior finishes soon.
There are now more than 128 locations of the Scarborough-based Aroma Joe’s.

The Maine Mineral and Gem Museum, 99 Main Street, are finalizing plans for an upward expansion. The project includes adding two offices and a bathroom in the museum’s attic space.
In a letter to the board in July, facilities Manager Robert Harmon wrote, “We are optimistic about the continued growth of the museum and anticipate the need to accommodate a larger team down the road.”

Owners of the former GraceNote Inn and Spa at 174 Mayville Road will address site plan issues for its wedding venue, with Harding Lee Smith representing The Gosling, LLC before the Bethel Planning Board on Nov. 12.
On Sept. 17, the Bethel Select Board approved a lodging house and victualer’s permit, an entertainment permit, and a liquor license for The Gosling, LLC.
