Carole A. Freeman

MEXICO – Carole A. Freeman, 85, passed away on Nov. 11, 2025, at her home in Mexico.

Carole was born in Rumford on May 24, 1940, the daughter of William and Isabel (Brown) Canwell. She graduated from Stephen High School in 1958 and Bernard’s School of Cosmetology in 1973. She was a well-known hairdresser in the Rumford area for many years and was also involved with helping as a care taker for the elderly.

Carole was married in Mexico on Sept. 14, 1985, to William Freeman, Sr. who passed on May 4, 2013.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ellen Harrison and husband Thomas of Mexico and Lesa Nadeau and husband Paul of Windham, two sons, Scott W. Murphy of Massachusetts and Maynard Murphy, Jr. and wife Deborah of Cape Elizabeth, two stepdaughters, Lynda Derouche of West Peru and Cynthia Proctor and husband of Weld, three stepsons, William Freeman, II and wife Mary Ellen of Peru, Gregory Freeman and wife Cynthia of Peru, and Andrew Freeman and wife Brenda of Peru, two bonus daughters, Brenda Murphy of Mexico and Flo Murphy of Stratton; six grandchildren, Rebekah Bedell, Brandon Bedell, Carole Murphy, Caitlin Murphy, Michael Nadeau, and Steven Nadeau; one great-grandchild; and several step-grandchildren; two brothers, Tim and Randy Canwell.

She was predeceased by her husband, William; and brothers John, Richard and Maurice Canwell.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 21, 2026 at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Andover.
