Dorothy I. Chouinard

JAY – Dorothy I. Chouinard, 82, of Jay, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born on Feb. 22, 1943, in Lewiston, the daughter of Camille and Leonie R. (Lavoie) Belleville. She was a 1962 graduate of Lewiston High School. On Aug. 11, 1962, at St. Peter’s Church in Lewiston, she married John Chouinard, Jr. of Lewiston.

Dot dedicated more than 30 years as a secretary in the Education Department at the University of Maine at Farmington, where she was known for her steady presence, professionalism, and warm spirit. She was also a proud member of the Turner Highlands Golf Course, where she belonged to the women’s league and cherished time spent on the course with friends.

Dot especially enjoyed crocheting and playing card games with her children and grandchildren. She blessed her family with lobster feasts and crepe-filled mornings that will be forever treasured.

She is survived by her husband, John Chouinard, Jr. of Jay; her son, John Chouinard III and his wife Jill of Bucksport, her daughter, Pamela Heird and her husband David of Goochland, Va.; her grandchildren, Nicolas Chouinard, Kara, Taylor, and Abigail Heird; and her great-grandchildren, Esme, Felix, and Rudy. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Belleville, and his wife Mary of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Funeral Service 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 17 at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls. Visiting hours will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 217 Switzerland Rd., Lewiston.
