Raymonde Ida Rioux
LEWISTON – Raymonde Ida Rioux, a resident of Sabattus, passed away on Nov. 4, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on Feb. 14, 1937, in New Brunswick Canada, Raymonde was known for her compassionate, kind-hearted, hard-working, humorous, and selfless nature.
Throughout her career, Raymonde contributed to the community as a dedicated stitcher at Bates Mill, where she worked on bedspreads, and as a first collar shoe stitcher. Her work ethic and commitment were admired by all who knew her.
Raymonde shared 68 years of marriage with Donald Rioux, a union marked by family gatherings, camping trips in Rangeley, ice fishing, and cherished moments with their grandchildren. She delighted in cooking, particularly her famous bread, baked beans, and onion rings, and hosted Christmas sleepovers for her grandchildren, creating lasting memories.
Her personal interests included knitting and crafting beautiful Christmas and flower arrangements, which brought joy to her family and friends. Raymonde’s compassionate love for her family was evident in all she did, leaving a legacy of warmth and generosity.
She leaves behind her husband, Donald Rioux; her son, Daniel (Linda) Rioux, Barbara (Gary) Brown and Brenda (Rick) Charette. Her loved grandchildren, Jennifer Day, Michelle Goldrup, Nicole Rioux, Matthew Charette; and many great-grandchildren.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff of D’Youville Pavilion 3 East for their care and support. Raymonde’s presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
