Vincent “Vince” Sassi

RUMFORD – Vincent “Vince” Sassi, 79, died Saturday Nov. 15, 2025, at Stephens Hospital in Norway. He was a resident of Rumford.

Vince was born in Rumford, Maine on April 29, 1946, the son of Joseph and Constance (Goodoff) Sassi. He was a 1964 a graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford and served in the United Staes Air Force for four years including a year in Vietnam. He worked for Oxford Paper Company in Rumford for over 43 years. He was a Communicant of the Parish of The Holy Savior St Athanasius St John Church; he was a member of the American Legion and former member of the Elks. He enjoyed Geocaching, audio books, dining out, photography, travel and walking.

Vince was married on Dec. 3, 1993, to Linda McKellick who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include his daughter Dawn Miller of Rumford; grandchildren, Makayla Miller of Westbrook, Emily Stinson of Farmington, and Tyler Stinson of Windham; his sister, Connie Shorey and husband Frank of Port Charlotte, Fla., his sisters-in-law Brenda Sassi of North Carolina and Janice Szoszorek and husband Jim of Eastern, Pa. He was predeceased by a daughter Robin Stinson; a brother Joseph Sassi; and nephew Jonathan Sassi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 25, 2025, at the Parish of The Holy Savior St Athanasius St John Church 126 Maine Ave., Rumford. Interment will be in St John Cemetery in Rumford. Friends and family are invited to call at the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St Rumford, on Monday from 6 – 8 p.m.
