I just read the Nov. 20 front page article, “Curious about your CMP bill? Here’s what it pays for.” I was curious why the article failed to mention the millions of dollars that Central Maine Power spent in the 2023 election against referendum Question 3.
I remember when I heard the $32 million figure two years ago, I thought to myself, imagine if they just used that money to reduce the electric bills of their customers instead of spending it on political advertising? Maybe, just maybe, they wouldn’t need to spend millions on political advertising to fight against the idea of a public option to compete against CMP.
I’m not a CEO of a multimillion-dollar corporation whose parent company is located in Spain, so maybe I don’t understand.
