DEAR SUN SPOTS: Last week, our amazing team at Gather to Grow brought Thanksgiving home to 716 households, more than 1,500 community members, across greater Lewiston-Auburn.  Thanks to the many incredible and dedicated volunteers, staff, partners, we made sure no one went without a holiday or heritage meal.

In short, we did this together.

And that is the heart of what Gather to Grow does through all our work. We bring people together, young and old, to transform a place into a home, for all of us, where we can be fed, we can find belonging, and where we can grow and thrive.

We hope you will continue to join us as we meet this moment, as a volunteer, participant, or supporter. If you are able to, we ask you to support our work with a donation. Any and every amount goes a long way to put food into grocery bags and gardens; to create meaningful opportunities for young people to learn, lead, and connect; and to ensure we remain a center for all our communities to gather and build resilience.

From now until the end of the year we’ll continue to share opportunities to give, learn and engage with us at Gather to Grow. Thank you for your trust in us and your ongoing support. The Gather to Grow team, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to encourage Sun Spotters to get involved with the Trinity Jubilee Center. I am on my feet now but they helped me and my family recently at a time when we really needed it. My daughter, a single mom who now lives with me, was able to get diapers for her toddler and the help with medical care.

I was jobless and had to move out of home but we are all okay now and the center was a safety net for us. The volunteers are so kind. — No name, no town

ANSWER: These nonprofits can always use more volunteers, sponsors and donations. Go to https://trinityjubileecenter.org/ and choose one thing or a few.

Sponsor a meal or several, donate to operating costs, the heating fund, the building campaign or check out the wish list. The organization accepts adult winter coats, boots, hats, gloves, socks, blankets, sleeping bags and new toiletries such as deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion, soap, razors, shampoo and conditioner. Give what you can and help those in need.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am interested in sponsoring some wreaths in honor of my father and father-in-law in Wreaths Across America. Can you get that information to me? — Sandy, no town

ANSWER: Go to https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/ and you will find instructions and links on how to sponsor wreaths and also how to volunteer to place wreaths locally. You can also lead a sponsorship group through your workplace or organization or coordinate a location near where you live. National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13. Getting involved would be a wonderful thing to do at the holidays.
