Nancy Ryan Muir
AUBURN – Nancy Ryan Muir of Auburn, Maine, passed peacefully in her sleep, at home, on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025. She was 83 years old. She was born Nov. 17, 1941, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Sterling (Mike) and Dorothy Ryan. She married John Muir on Sept. 10, 1960. She lived in Maine for almost 50 years.
Nancy was active in her church, High Street Congregational Church, as well as a birder, gardener, stamper, traveler, and volunteer at the Dempsey Center. She collected a large set of dear friends, who describe her as kind, friendly, and generous with her time (and a little firm in her ways!).
She is survived by her sister Kathleen Ackley (and Bob Ackley); son Mike Muir (and Tammy Ranger), daughter-in-law Denise Muir; granddaughters Savannah Muir (and Sid Nanda), Gabi Muir-Choi (and Jeong Hoon Choi), and Aubrey Muir. She was predeceased by her husband John Muir; son Andy Muir; and brother Steve Ryan.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, at the High Street Congregational Church, 106 Pleasant St., Auburn, ME 04210.
