Police are investigating an armed robbery Thursday morning at Walgreens in Livermore Falls, where they say a white male brandished what is believed to be a pistol and demanded money from an employee.
The man fled the store at 82 Main St. with just cigarettes, according to police Chief Abe Haroon. The suspect was believed to have headed toward Jay, he said.
Police responded to the scene about 9:22 a.m.
The suspect is described as between 5 feet , 6 inches and 6 feet, 1 inch tall. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with a black coat over it, gray pants and a blue medical style COVID mask and gloves.
“At this time, we do not believe there is any immediate danger to the general public or surrounding area,” Haroon said.
If someone observed anyone suspicious near the scene at the time, they are asked to contact the Livermore Falls Police Department at 207-897 3424.
Haroon asked the public to avoid sharing unverified information. He said updates will be provided as they become available.
The chief thanked people for their cooperation and assistance in keeping the community safe.
Livermore Falls police are being assisted by other agencies, including Jay Police Department and Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
