Rev. Raymond P. Morency
AUBURN – Rev. Raymond P. Morency, 75, of Auburn, passed away on Tuesday Nov 25, 2025, at Clover Manor in Auburn following a long illness. He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 23, 1949, the son of the late Roger and Doris (Landry) Morency.
He attended Lewiston High School and earned an associate degree in business from the University of Maine and a bachelor’s degree from Thomas College in Waterville.
He served in the U.S. Army for three years. During that time, he was deployed to Vietnam. He worked as a personnel manager at Portland Stove Foundry and later with North Anson Reel Co. before entering St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore, Md. Father Ray was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Edward C. O’Leary at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston in May 1987.
His assignments included St. Andre Parish in Biddeford, St. Augustine Parish in Augusta. In 1995, Father Ray accepted a commission to return to active duty as a U.S. Army Chaplain for three years. After his years of service, he returned to the diocese in July of 1998 and served at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Oquossoc, St. Anne Parish in Dexter, St. Agnes Parish in Pittsfield, St. Mark Parish in Ashland, St. Mary Parish in Presque Isle, St. Joseph Parish in Mars Hill; St. Denis Parish in Fort Fair-field, St. Louis Parish in Limestone; and Holy Rosary Parish in Caribou. Father Ray retired on July 1st, 2015.
He is survived by his three brothers Richard, Donald and Michael Morency and their wives Barbara, Susan and Debbie; and also several nieces and nephews.
A Right of Reception of the Body with The Office of The Dead will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will then follow from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church. Visitation will continue Friday from 9:30 a.m. till the time of the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Committal Services along with Military Honors will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
