It’s good to read of private enterprises stepping into the shoes of the federal government. As much as the left enjoys vilifying capitalism and the “greedy rich,” these are the people and organizations who are stepping up to supply food banks with the needed resources to counteract the missing SNAP monies.
Look at individuals, such as Michael Dell, who are donating billions of dollars to encourage our young to begin investing in themselves. Need I cite more examples? They make the news every day offering vast sums of money and time to make the world a better place, yet are constantly held up to ridicule because of their wealth.
The federal government is broke. Let that sink in! We cannot demand that it act like a watering can, spreading largesse to every bleeding heart (and doing it most inefficiently at that). What is needed is all of us working together to help those less fortunate.
We are a nation built on capitalism and it is a capitalistic society that eventually lifts all boats.
