Ralph A. Asselin
AUBURN – Ralph A. Asselin, a devoted, hard-working, and thoughtful man, passed away on Dec. 19, 2025, at the age of 102. Born on Sept. 12, 1923, in Lewiston, Ralph grew up attending local area schools where he played several sports, with baseball being a particular favorite.
Ralph built a career working in local shoe shops and as a machinist for Philip Elmet in Lewiston. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged, marking a proud chapter in his life.
In 1950, Ralph married Gloria Cote. Together, they raised three children in Auburn. Gloria, who passed away in 2008, was a cherished partner in Ralph’s life journey. Their children, Sherry A. Morneau (Louis), Gary R. Asselin, and Donna M. St. Pierre (Gene), continue their legacy.
Ralph enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including hunting and fishing, particularly in the tundra of Northern Canada. He loved traveling to places like Las Vegas, Florida, Washington, D.C., Nashville, and Branson, Missouri. Watching sports, especially New England teams, was a source of great joy for him.
Active in his community, Ralph was a member of the American Legion, Post 153, in Auburn, and participated in the Senior Citizens Group in New Auburn.
He is survived by his children, along with grandchildren Lori Bolduc (Michael), Scott Morneau, Amy St. Pierre (Nate Derouche), and Tony St. Pierre (Hannah). His great-grandchildren Lindsey, Brayden, and Sophia will carry on his memory.
