Maryann (Kus) Jalbert
MECHANIC FALLS – On Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, Maryann (Kus) Jalbert, loving mother of two children, passed away at the age of 82 at home. Maryann was born on April 26, 1943, in Summit, NJ, a daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Trytek) Kus.
She spent her childhood in New Jersey and later moved to Maine where she attended Cony High School, ’61. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from the Farmington State Teachers College, ’65. After graduating college, she taught at Erskine Academy in South China, Maine, where she would meet John B Jalbert, a fellow teacher. John and Maryann would be married in June of 1968 and go on to raise two sons, Thomas and Gregory.
Maryann was an avid gardener and lover of plants. Her yard was always full of a variety of flowers, shrubs and decorative trees. She maintained a large garden every summer and grew fruits and vegetables that she would preserve, can and freeze. She was passionate about cooking and enjoyed trying new recipes and sharing her creations with family and friends.
In her later life she volunteered her time at the McLaughlin Garden in South Paris, Maine. She also volunteered with the Red Cross helping at various blood donation sites.
She was predeceased by her loving parents Thomas and Anna Kus, her husband John Jalbert and brother Richard Olejnik.
She is survived by her two sons and their families, Thomas Jalbert of San Francisco, Calif., and his daughter, Monet; and Gregory Jalbert of Auburn, Maine, his wife Kimberly, and their children Isabelle and Isaac.
