Maureen R. Hamblin

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Maureen R. Hamblin, 82, a resident of Wilton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Fla. following a medical event.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1943, in Livermore Falls, Maine, the daughter of William H. Riley and Rose (Signet) Riley. Maureen was a 1961 graduate of Livermore Falls High School. On Jan. 7, 1961, in Livermore Falls, she married Steven R. Hamblin of Livermore.

Maureen worked as a branch manager for Livermore Falls Trust Company at the Jay branch for several years. She continued her working career as a paper tester in the laboratory at International Paper Company in Jay, and later as an office manager in the medical field at several locations.

She enjoyed wintering with her husband at their condo in Cocoa Beach. She cherished her time with her girlfriends whether playing bingo, cards, crafting, or out for lunch dates. Among her many roles, what she was most proud of was her 65-year marriage to her devoted and loving husband, being a mother to her girls, and being a grandmother. “Nanny” had a special gift for making every family gathering brighter, louder, and full of fun. No get together was without games and prizes, brownies, or her famous buttered popcorn. Maureen embodied the Irish spirit with a special kind of luck and love that carried through to all of us who knew her sweet, kind, and generous nature.

She is survived by her husband, Steven R. Hamblin of Wilton; her daughters, Bryn Doiron and husband Michael of Wilton, and Kate Carignan of Kittery; five grandchildren, Rylee, Ike, Eryn, Patrick, and Jack; brother-in-law, Edward Hamblin and his wife Marcia and sister-in-law, Michelle Riley.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, William “Bill” Riley and sister-in-law, Trena Steele.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., May 16 at Holy Cross Niche, 445 Park Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. Arrangements by FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.
