Pearl M. Hamlin

MILFORD, N.H. – Pearl M. Hamlin, 94, died on July 7, 2025, after a brief illness, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, N.H. Born in Bethel, Maine, Nov. 26, 1930, she was the daughter of Doris and Walter Maxim. She grew up in South Paris where she attended school and graduated from Paris High School. She married Carl Oliver Hamlin of South Waterford, where they made their home and raised six children.

Years later, they relocated to Milford, N.H. Many road trips to Waterford to the Hamlin Homestead on Coolidge Hill were made where families loved to visit. Pearl and Oliver enjoyed a leisurely trip around the country with many scenic stops and visits with family in Florida, Arizona, Texas, California, Michigan and Minnesota. Most memorable was a trip with Oliver’s brother George and wife Marcia to visit their mother’s homeland of Sweden and connect with relatives.

Pearl had an active interest in her classmates’ lives, many of whom she had known since elementary school and looked forward to the class of ’49 reunions and alumni banquets. Always reminiscing about the past, she often mentioned special friends Jean Colby Ryder and Isabelle Stearns Foss, both of whom she kept in touch with through the years. A former neighbor, Kathy Boissennault, was a special friend who often came by with lunch and to visit which pleased her. She loved visits from family, especially the grandchildren who lived a distance away but always made a special time to see her.

Pearl was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Carl Oliver; her son Michael; son-in-law Robert Albert; and her companion of 14 years, Leo Rolerad; her brothers, Harold, Wayne and Timothy, and sisters, Thelma, Marilyn and Barbara.

Surviving her are daughters Carol (Alan), Nancy (partner David), andLinda; daughter-in-law Kathryn; and sons Dana and John (partner Donna); 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special aunt Susie.

Special thanks to daughter Nancy who devoted countless hours and energy to her mom’s need, making it possible to live comfortably in her own home. Pearl relished her independence and being sociable. She was diligent about staying connected with family and friends. Her wealth of knowledge and curiosity kept her active!

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main Street, Oxford. For those who are unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed through Pearl’s obituary on the funeral home website at http://www.oxfordhillsfuneralservices.com where you can also read her obituary.
