Donald A. Bate

FARMINGTON – Donald Alan Bate, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully on Jan. 16, 2026, in Farmington, at the age of 75.

Don was born on June 30, 1950, to William and Dorothy Bate in Dover, N.H.

Don attended Marshwood High School in Eliot, graduating in 1968. Donald continued his studies at Wanakena College, The Ranger School, in New York with a degree in Land Surveying.

Donald worked for ACME Engineering of Farmington until his retirement in 2017.

Don married the love of his life, Judy, in 1997, and they shared many wonderful years together before her passing in 2016.

Donald is survived by is three children, Craig (Taren) Bate, Chris (Colleen) Bate and Charity Gordon. He was a proud grandfather to Hunter, Haley, Miranda, Dawson, Cayden, Tarek, Shaylea; and two great-grandchildren; his sister, Marilyn (Bobby) Straus, and his brother, Larry (Bonnie) Bate.

He was pre-deceased by his parents William and Dorothy Bate; grandson, Colby Bate; and wife, Judy Bate.

Don volunteered his time to teach Hunter Safety from 1990-1996. He loved hunting with his family, camping, four wheeling, family functions, enjoying time with his beloved pet cat “Mr. Cat”, sipping on Michelob Light and soaking in the beauty of the outdoors. He taught his kids and grandkids to hunt and loved to talk to his three children every day on the phone.

Don will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

A Celebration of Life for Don will be held June 6 at 206 Spaulding Rd., in Strong. Friends and family are welcome to stop by and remember Don.
