Stella Elmire Murphy

AUBURN – Stella Elmire Murphy, born on Dec. 11, 1932, in Lewiston, passed away at the age of 93 on Jan. 19, 2026 at the Sarah Frye Home in Auburn, where she resided for the last year and a half of her life. Stella was the beloved daughter of Charles and Regina (Beaumont) Labonte.

Stella was educated at Ave Maria Academy, St. Dom’s, and Bliss Business College. She dedicated her career to working for the city of Lewiston, D’Youville Pavilion, and Lewiston Hardware.

On June 5, 1992, Stella married Robert Murphy, with whom she shared many cherished years.

Stella loved to sew, play cards, and travel, pursuits that brought her much joy throughout her life.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Regina Labonte; her husband, Robert Murphy; and her brother, Jean-Paul and his wife Eva.

Stella leaves behind her nephews Mark Labonte and his wife Lisa, and Andre Labonte and his wife Jennifer; nieces Pauline Labonte, Joline Lindsley and husband Eric, Anne Dramko and husband Joseph; and many grandnieces and nephews; as well as great-grandnieces and nephews. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Barbara Hutchinson, Dana Murphy and wife Karen, Paul Murphy, David Murphy and wife Mary, along with step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.

Stella’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Stella this Saturday, Jan. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 217 Turner St., Auburn, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus St., Lewiston. Committal prayers for Stella will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 9 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 31 Deer Rd. Lewiston.
