We had very few correct entries for last week’s Mystery Photo. One of the correct entrants, and a faithful player of the contest, former City Manager Ed Barrett of Lewiston, not only correctly guessed where the photo was taken, but his name was picked in a random drawing of all the correct entries. He will receive a $25 Hannaford Supermarket gift card. In his email entry, he wrote: “Too easy again. How could I not get this after driving past this location at least twice a day, five days a week, for 10 years?  Is this a test to see how many cops read the paper?

The photo is of the former Lewiston Police Department, taken near the intersection of Park and Spruce streets. On the right are garage doors leading into the station from a parking lot. The exterior of Lepage Bakeries can be seen on the left, while some Lisbon Street buildings are in the background. Attached to the fence in the foreground is one of a number of “Stars of Hope,” part of the Stars of Hope Project, an initiative following the 2023 mass shootings in Lewiston meant to show support and gratitude for officers who responded to the incident and its aftermath.”
