AUBURN — A 62-year-old worker fell from a roof Wednesday morning after he was shocked while raking snow from the Auburn Senior Community Center roof.
Auburn fire and rescue crews treated the man for burns and other injuries after he was reported to have fallen from the roof at Pettingill Park about 10:40 a.m.
He was said to be in stable condition later Wednesday after he was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
The victim’s identity had not been released as the investigation by Auburn police continued.
Police said the man had been contracted from a local roofing company to remove snow from the building.
“The worker added an extension to the metal rake he was using and the rake made contact with the power line on the roof,” according to Auburn Deputy Police Chief Tim Cougle, “shocking the man who fell from the ladder.”
The 62-year-old suffered burns to his hands and legs, police said. He did not lose consciousness as he was being treated and taken to the hospital.
Auburn police said they have contacted the Occupational Safety and Health Administration about the incident as is protocol with workplace injuries.
