Sonia Eva (Roy) Tracy

FALMOUTH – Sonia Eva (Roy) Tracy passed away peacefully on Jan. 21, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by family at home. Born on Feb. 2, 1944, in Lewiston, Maine, Sonia was the daughter of Robert Roy Sr. and Yvette Roy.

Sonia grew up in Lewiston and attended St. Dominic High School graduating in 1962. She later pursued her education at Bliss College, where she earned her associate degree.

In 1966, Sonia married the love of her life, Leonard Tracy. Together they shared nearly 60 years of marriage and more than 60 years as devoted partners, building a life rooted in family, hard work, and deep affection. Sonia approached motherhood with warmth and unwavering dedication, instilling in her children the values of kindness, resilience, and generosity that defined her own life. Sonia shared a lifelong closeness with her parents and three siblings, drawing strength, laughter, and love from their enduring relationships.

Sonia was a proud business owner. Alongside her husband Leonard, they owned and operated Graphics & Printing, Inc., a printing company located in Portland, Maine, for 16 years. Sonia played an integral role in the business, overseeing its financial management with skill and dedication. The couple sold the business in 2001, marking the closure of an important chapter in their working lives.

Sonia is survived by her husband Leonard Tracy; her daughter, Emmy Tracy Bernard (Cédric), her son, Matthew Tracy (Carla); and her four beloved grandchildren Lucie and Madeleine Bernard and Henry and Peter Tracy, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

Sonia was the eldest of four siblings and is survived by her sister, Paulette Roy of Jupiter, Fla. and her brothers, Robert Roy Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Paul Roy of Lewiston, Maine.

Sonia cherished a life lived between seasons. She loved spending winters in Florida and summers in Maine, especially enjoying time on the water boating in Casco Bay with friends and family. A proud francophone, Sonia spoke fluent French-Canadian dialect and treasured conversations with siblings and lifelong friends from Lewiston. She loved traveling to Québec City and exploring destinations throughout Europe, especially France and Italy. She was known for carrying on her French-Canadian heritage through the warmth of her food, including her tourtière (meat pie) and creton – some of the many dishes her grandchildren adored.

In the early 2000s, Sonia inherited her late father’s mill buildings along with her siblings—the Continental Mill and the Hill Mill in Lewiston. She managed the properties along with her husband, with care and diligence, overseeing tenants, maintaining meticulous records, and serving as a thoughtful steward of the historic buildings until their successful sale to Chinburg Properties in 2019.

Raised in the Catholic traditions of her Franco-American family, Sonia carried a quiet spirituality through life and a generous heart for helping others. Known affectionately by many names—including Mom, Alice, and “The Boss”—Sonia’s favorite and most cherished title was Mémère, a role she embraced with love, warmth, and devotion.

A celebration of Sonia’s life will be held in late spring, to be announced.

Arrangements are under the care of The Fortin & Pinette Group, 217 Turner Street Auburn, ME 04210 | (207) 783-8545.
