LEWISTON — Police used a dog and a drone to track down a suspect Tuesday afternoon after a robbery was reported at Maine Family Credit Union on Sabattus Street.
The 3:30 p.m. heist shut down the credit union as the suspect fled on foot and police converged on the area.
Less than an hour later, it was reported that police had found a possible suspect a short distance away on Sabattus Street.
Later, the man was described as a “person of interest” who was being questioned about the robbery. He was not identified as the investigation got underway.

Police did not say whether a weapon was used in the robbery, although they did note that the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was hurt. Credit Union officials announced on social media that all employees were safe and that police were investigating.
They also advised their customers that the credit union lobby was closed for the rest of the day. The drive-through lanes remained open until the end of the day.
The Lewiston Police Department’s tracking dog Payne was credited with helping locate a suspect.
Later, Maine Drug Enforcement agents were still at the scene assisting with the investigation.
