Constance Mailhot Sutton

SOUTH PORTLAND – Constance Mailhot Sutton, lovingly known as Connie, daughter of Willie and Agnes Mailhot, passed away peacefully on Jan. 28, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born April 21, 1934, in Lewiston and spent much of her life in Portland where she built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love.

Connie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, whose life centered on caring for others. She worked as a telephone operator and was known for her kindness, humor, generosity, and love for life.

She found joy in the arts, especially classical music and Opera. Connie was a dedicated lifelong learner and voracious reader. Those who knew her will remember her for her love of a good party and her ability to make everyone feel welcome.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bertrand Sutton; daughter Elizabeth and her wife Barbara, son Stephen and his wife Alice of Tampa, Fla., son James of Arlington, Mass.; grandsons Will, John, Chris; great grandsons Guthrie, Morris; brother Richard Mailhot and his wife Claudette, and brother Dr. Paul Mailhot; as well as many nephews and devoted friends.

Constance’s visitation will be held on Saturday March 14 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at  The Fortin & Pinette Group , 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately after at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 122 Ash Street, Lewiston. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Arrangements are in the care of The Fortin & Pinette Group , condolences and memories may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the website.
