Andre H. Baillargeon
AUBURN – Andre H. Baillargeon, 82, of Auburn, passed away on Feb. 9, 2026, at the Hospice House in Auburn, following a long illness with Parkinson’s disease.
Born on May 31, 1943, in Lewiston, he was the son of Jerome E. Baillargeon and Eugenie M. (Gallant) Baillargeon. He came from a large French family and remained proud of his heritage throughout his life. He loved his many nieces and nephews and cherished his extended family.
Andre married the love of his life, Joyce E. Baillargeon, on Feb. 3, 1968. They enjoyed 48 beautiful years together. She predeceased him, along with his four brothers Gerry, Lionel, Emery and Nelson, and one sister, Bernadette. In later years, he shared nine years of companionship with Karen McKeever. They enjoyed spending time together, and Karen provided devoted care and support to Andre during his illness.
A devout Catholic, Andre was a longtime member of Holy Family Church in Lewiston, where he attended Mass weekly and volunteered for many years as a greeter and usher. He worked more than 30 years in retail management, later owning and operating Andy’s Yankee Grocer in Auburn with Joyce. He completed his career as Facilities Manager for the Lewiston School Department.
Family meant everything to Andre. Known as “Pepere” to his grandchildren, he treasured his time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed road trips to the ocean, the Rangeley Lake area, Cadillac Mountain, Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre in Canada, and scenic country drives. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, watching birds at his feeders, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
A lifelong car enthusiast, Andre always had a convertible and loved taking long trips with his wife, packing sandwiches for the road. Music was a constant companion on their journeys, with country tunes or Elvis playing throughout the day. He had a large collection of CDs. In his later years, Andre found joy in activities at Montello Heights and relaxing outdoors on sunny days.
He is survived by his companion, Karen McKeever; his sons, Andre C. Baillargeon and wife Lisa, and Thomas N. Baillargeon and wife Vickie, his daughters, Katherine A. Baillargeon and significant other Thomas G. Diebold, and Rachel E. Baillargeon and partner Steve Studdard; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Andre will be remembered for his sense of humor, his appreciation of the simple things in life, his love of cars and animals, and above all his love and devotion for his family and his strong Catholic faith.
Special thank you to the caregivers, especially Richard who became a friend to dad as he provided compassionate care and support, and to the Andwell Hospice Team and Hospice House.
