Christopher Michael Upton

FREEPORT – Christopher Michael Upton, 49, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 24, 2026. Chris was born in Norway on Sept. 2, 1976, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Chris attended Oxford Hills High School. He was an excellent carpenter and worked in the construction field all his life.

Chris and his family took great pride in his artistic abilities, whether with pen, pencils, colored pencils and/or charcoal. His drawing and artistic qualities showed at a very young age. His charcoal (pencil) drawing of a lighthouse scene won a Merit Award at Norway’s art show. At a younger than usual age he was accepted to the National Art Institute, even though he was not old enough at the time, by drawing the character from the newspaper.

Remaining to cherish Christopher’s memory are parents Don and Ruth Upton; sister Nicole; son Liam; daughter Lexi; stepchildren Janae, Teagan and Nate; aunts Susan, Gloria, Karen, Rhonda and Trudy; significant others Sara and family and Jacqueline and family; and an enormous extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by grandparents Eugene and Ruth Pride; Keith and Genevieve Upton.

The family will have visitation on Sunday Feb. 15 from 12 – 2 p.m. at Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Oxford, with a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Eric Hansen officiating. A reception to follow. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in South Paris in the spring. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed on Christopher’s obituary page.
