Linda Sturdivant of Standish spends much of her time in Biddeford at the historic City Theater. Sturdivant started working there in 2008, and was named artistic director a year later.
Here are some of the spots she loves in and around Biddeford.
Where do you like to eat?
When I get a chance to go out, I enjoy Run of the Mill Public House & Brewery, just over the Biddeford line in Saco. I am away from home a lot and I find Run of the Mill’s atmosphere homey and relaxed. They have great comfort food, and I love the meatloaf and chicken wings.
What’s a favorite beverage spot?
I don’t drink, but my friends rave about The Lobby Bar at The Lincoln Hotel. For me, Coffee at Elements: Books Coffee Beer is always wonderful.

How do you like to unwind outside?
I don’t get out of the theater much to enjoy nature, but I will often take a ride along the oceanfront to take in how beautiful it is. I head to Fortunes Rocks Beach.
Favorite spots to shop locally?
I love how Main Street has changed and evolved over the last 18 years. It is fun just to see what is new. Sometimes I pop into McArthur Library. I hit Reilly’s Bakery for pastry and the gift shop Trillium has beautiful things.
What’s a hidden gem in Biddeford?
I am going to toot my own horn because City Theater is one of Biddeford’s hidden gems. It is a completely restored 135-year-old, 500-seat opera house. There hasn’t been a show in 18 years that someone from the area hasn’t come in and said, “I didn’t know this was here.”
