DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding the question about ALDI’s opening in South Portland, I saw on the WCYY social media page that the grocery store has set the opening day for March 26. I’m a big ALDI fan so I want everyone to know!
I read that “all the exterior work has been completed and most of the construction crews still on-site are working hard on the interior of the store as they put the final touches on.
“Aldi has changed their signage at the entryway of the Pine Tree Shopping Center to include the official grand opening date.” I’m psyched — Pat, Lisbon Falls
ANSWER: This is a follow-up to the Feb. 4 Sun Spots. I really appreciate it when readers share information. It makes my job so easy!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I just want Sun Spots readers to know that The SHAREcenter is closed through the school vacation week. We will be back at SHAREcenter on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Also, we are not accepting any donations. — No name, Lewiston
ANSWER: Thanks for letting us know. Located at Market Place Mall, 675 Main St., in Lewiston, the SHAREcenter is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
Its mission is to rescue reusable resources by collecting items that businesses, colleges, schools, and the public no longer need, then provide them to members for use in their programs. SHAREcenter serves schools and nonprofits. These groups pay a nominal annual membership fee. All members of these organizations can gather items that have been rescued to supplement their programs.
Rescued materials that are collected and organized include, but are not limited to, art and craft supplies, office supplies, new clothing, school supplies, and STEAM materials. Office and school furniture is also available.
There is an accepted donation list and a wish list on the website at https://www.sharecenterme.org/.
The SHAREcenter is always happy to have volunteers come and assist with the many essential tasks that keep the organization running. Some jobs include, but are not limited to, shelving donations in the store, assisting shoppers, receiving, and sorting donations, organizing, and labeling shelves, helping members load their materials, and assisting with special events.
If you would like to become a part of the volunteer team email the SHAREcenter staff at [email protected] or call 312-3810 during open hours.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding the inquiry about the listings of the local Fox TV channel in the Feb. 15 Sun Spots, I believe they are asking about the newspapers’ print TV listings.
It’s showing the listings of the network that replaced Fox on Channel 23.1 over the air. The printed TV newspaper listings should be updated to the data listings of channel 13.2, the new location of Fox in Southern Maine.
This has nothing to do with the cable or satellite listings in screen guides. Those were updated when the channels flipped recently. — Shawn, Lewiston
ANSWER: Thanks for this helpful information. Why does watching television these days have to be so complicated? I appreciate you assisting in sorting this out.
