Muriel E. Briggs

NORWAY – Muriel E. Briggs, 95, of Norway passed away at her home on Feb. 13, 2026, with her children by her side. She was the daughter of Charles and Mabel Pearson Thurlow, born in Norway as a triplet on April 23, 1930, with one passing away 9-days-old, weighing nine pounds between the three. She spent her childhood on the farm in Otisfield.

On Sept. 24, 1955, she married Glendon Briggs and celebrated 61 years together until his death in 2016. Most of her life she was a homemaker and helped on the Briggs farm in Buckfield. Everything from helping with the gardens or making syrup. She also worked with Glendon in the woods, cutting and trimming spruce and fir boughs for the making of incense.

She enjoyed taking day trips and visiting family and friends. After Glendon’s death she continued living in the High Street Apartments in South Paris beside her good friends, “The Golden Girls”. Getting together to celebrate everyone’s birthdays or just getting together for a meal and a visit.

In her final three years of life she lived by her son and wife “up on the hill”, where she loved watching deer in her yard from her living room window right up to her final days. She loved her word search and watching her game shows everyday.

She is survived by her son Stephen and wife Jayne; grandchildren Jason Briggs and wife Charlee, Jessica Briggs and fiancé Milo Washer; great-grandchildren Jadah Adams, Rylee Briggs, Chandler Briggs and Madix Washer; great great grandchildren Mae Whitney and Knox Whitney.

She was predeceased by her husband Glendon; triplet’s Marie Thurlow and Myrtle Young; and sister Vera Sawyer.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Riverside Annex Cemetery in South Paris. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes, 45 Main Street, South Paris.

Online condolences may be shared with her family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com
