DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am confident you can answer my question and direct me to where to get the form I need.
I would like to get a mail-in form for my 2025 taxes, but cannot seem to find Form 1040 SR. It’s the only form I am required to mail in to qualify for the property tax and sales tax refund, as it’s all we did for our 2024 IRS taxes. Where can I find the form online? — No name, no town
ANSWER: You can find the U.S. Income Tax Form for Seniors here: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040s.pdf .
Here is the Maine Individual Income Tax Form 1040ME: https://www.maine.gov/revenue/sites/maine.gov.revenue/files/inline-files/24_Form%201040ME_ff.pdf
Here you will find Property Tax Fairness Credit Sales Tax Fairness Credit For Maine Residents and Part-Year Residents Only: https://www.maine.gov/revenue/sites/maine.gov.revenue/files/inline-files/23_1040me_sched_pstfc_ff.pdf.
For those folks who are looking for hard copies of these forms, check your town office and local library.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I think this has been in the column before but I need the list for egg substitutes again. My granddaughter is moving in with me and we just found out she is allergic to eggs. She’s 4 years old and of course, she loves cookies and such. Help! — Chris, no town
ANSWER: For one egg, you can substitute 1/4 cup silken tofu or yogurt, one mashed, ripe banana, unsweetened applesauce, or a jar of baby food prunes. One tablespoon of ground flaxseed or one tablespoon chia seeds plus three tablespoons water (allow to sit for about 10 minutes), also works.
For an egg white substitute, you can also use 3 tablespoons liquid (aqua fava) from a can of chick peas or from chickpeas you have cooked yourself. There’s also a powdered egg replacer in a packet made by Bob’s Red Mill. I have found it at grocery stores, Walmart and Reny’s.
If your granddaughter wants “eggs” for breakfast, try tofu scramble with her favorite add-ins, or use liquid egg replacer.
Readers, let’s get some out-of-the-box thinking going — if you have other substitute ideas for eggs and meals containing eggs that I haven’t mentioned, please share.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: What year did the show “Grey’s Anatomy” start? I don’t use the computer. I know it’s been on a very long time and although I still watch it, I miss some of the old characters. — Glenny, no town
ANSWER: That extremely popular TV show has been running since 2005. And yes, some of the characters have moved on, as they should. The plot lines are still great though!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you have a Stanley or Fuller Brush dealer in your Rolodex as I’m looking for a Stanley broom and dust pan. Thank you for all the help you give everyone. — Cindy, Auburn
ANSWER: In the Rolodex, I have a dealer in Auburn you can call at 783-8196. There is also a Fuller Brush/Stanley Outlet in Kittery (439-0206) at 8 Dexter Lane, Suite 3.
Or go to this website: https://fuller.com/ and you will see the products you’re looking for. I have owned the Fuller black kitchen broom for two decades and it has served me very well.
