Scott Shanaman, co-owner of Lost Valley Ski Area in Auburn, delivers a presentation Thursday at the Great Falls Forum at the Lewiston Public Library. Shanaman’s presentation, “Lost Valley: Past, Present and Future,” included details about what made Lost Valley stand out after it opened in 1961. Those highlights included ground-breaking snowmaking and grooming operations, which are priorities that continue to shape Shanaman’s vision for the ski area’s future. Shanaman and his wife, April, bought the ski area in late 2015 and have since added new trails, boosted snowmaking, upgraded facilities to allow for four-season events, and more than doubled skier visits from around 28,000 in 2015 to a record-breaking 67,000 in 2025.
